Go on a treasure hunt with a difference. Using your mobile or digital camera, you'll help to explore hidden Bradford by following our clues and creating your own photographic responses.

Will you impress the judges - Simon Waites, Assistant Editor (Pictures), Telegraph and Argus; Andy Wade, Multi-Media Manager at Orange UK and Sarah Read, Acting Director of Impressions Gallery - and win a prize?


How to take part

Over the following weeks we'll announce a series of four locations for you to seek out and photograph. You can enter anything from just one photograph into one location category, up to three pictures to each of the four location categories, it's up to you.

This is an open flickr group so anyone can see the pictures that have been uploaded. If you want to take part and upload images you'll have to join as a member of flickr to be able to do this, This is easy to do and full instructions can be found here: www.flickr.com/groups/bradfordbigpicture/discuss/72157607...


Location One: Your Street

We'll start in the place you know best of all; your street. Take a look around, what do YOU see?

Whether it's a shot of the landscape from your bedroom window, a close up of whatever lifeforms have made their home in the cracks in the pavement or a portrait of the daily dog walker (remembering to ask the dog nicely of course in case he's camera shy!) we can't wait to see what secret surprises you place in front of the lens.

All pictures from all location categories will be added into the same Group Pool, so be sure to add the word 'Street' somewhere into the description of your image when you upload it so we know which category your picture has been entered into.

For this first location category you don't actually have to live in Bradford to take part; but the hunt will soon take you from your street and continue your journey into the city....


Location Two: Your journey

So you've taken us to the end of your street and you're now on your way towards Bradford. We'd like an insight into what you see on the way, be it under foot, up above; or all around, just don't take your hands off the steering wheel!

Again all pictures from all location categories will be added into the same Group Pool, so be sure to add the word 'Journey' somewhere into the description of your image when you upload it so we know which category your picture has been entered into.

Take us on your journey into the city where you'll be perfectly poised for your next clue...


Location Three: Hidden Bradford

Well done for getting to Bradford, you should now be off your horse and ready to explore this fascinating city. It’s time to hit the ground, but don’t run; step left where you’d normally stride right and take time to steer a different route across the urban terrain. Show us what’s at the top of that hill you’ve never walked up, inside that intriguing building or at the end of that curious looking street. Probe with your eyes and click the shutter to uncover Bradford’s secret jewels.

Again all pictures from all location categories will be added into the same Group Pool, so be sure to add the word 'Hidden’ somewhere into the description of your image when you upload it so we know which category your picture has been entered into.

Enjoy your hunt for unseen sites, but don't get ready to stop quite yet as you’re nearly at your final destination and we'd like to see a wee bit more…

Location Four: Centenary Square

We hope you enjoyed your stroll around the city and now we’d like you to come and visit our stomping ground in the bustling Centenary Square. From the architectural grandeur of City Hall to impromptu picnickers there’s plenty to catch your eye.

Again all pictures from all location categories will be added into the same Group Pool, so be sure to add the word 'Square’ somewhere into the description of your image when you upload it so we know which category your picture has been entered into.

Awards and Prizes

Three photos from each of the four categories will be shortlisted by the judges and be available to view on Impressions website.

**Location Category Award
One photo from each of the four categories will be selected by the judges as the category award winner and will be available to view on Impressions website as well as winning a special prize.

*** Overall Bradford Big Picture Hunt winner
One photo from all entries will be selected by the judges as the overall competition winner and will be available to view on Impressions website as well as winning a special prize.

Terms and Conditions

All entries must be received by midday on Monday 20 October 2008.

**We're being good group administrators and at flickr's suggestion moderating all picture submissions before including them. Don't worry though we'll be moderating a few times a day until the competition closes on 20 October**
