Bournville Village Festival - June 24th
|
I caught a glimse of this last year while rushing for a train - this year I'm going for the whole thing.
It's utterly surreal in a quite wonderfully Bournville way.

I went one year, about three years ago. It was indeed a little surreal. The maypole dance I'd expected to be cheerfully shambolic, like the country-dancing concerts we used to put on at primary school. I was dead wrong. Military precision... The Lord Mayor was also pretty newly installed and seemed to greatly enjoy wearing his ceremonial get-up.
