About Book Map
This group was inspired by Randy Cohen's essay, "We'll Map Manhattan," which appeared in The New York Times' Sunday Book Review on May 1, 2005.
Cohen begins his essay: "I propose to create, with the help of the [New York Times] Book Review's readers, a literary map of Manhattan -- not of its authors' haunts but those of their characters, a map of the literary stars' homes."
(Here, btw, are the fruits of Cohen's labors: "We Mapped Manhattan," published June 5, 2005.)
"What a great idea!" I thought. "And how much greater if we could a) open it up to an audience even wider than that of the NYT Book Review; b) extend the idea beyond Manhattan; and c) include photos as well!"
Geobloggers makes all of this possible!
Please post photos of your favorite characters' - or as Aesop has suggested, authors' - haunts here, ideally geotagging them so that they can be viewed, and compared via maps.google.com.
Enjoy!
