About Boldt Castle: 1,000 Island's /New York and Canadian borderBoldt Castle is located on Heart Island in the 1000 Islands, Alexandria Bay, New York near the Canadian Border. George Boldt comissioned the castle for his wife Louise in 1900 to demonstrate how much he loved her. It is a six story, 120 room castle, with hearts through out the decor; in the wood and metal work. In 1904 Louise died, and all work stopped building the castle. George didn't want the castle after his wife died. It was left to the elements, and noone had worked on it until recently. The restoration is still a work in process, to repair the work of vandals and the weather. |
