About BLS Lötschbergbahn
The Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon or BLS Lötschbergbahn is the largest standard-gauge private operator in Switzerland, thanks to having been built after the Swiss federal government took control of the railways in 1902. BLS AG (to give it its current name) operates the famous Lötschberg route through the Alps, and a number of smaller regional routes. The latter include the Bern-Neuenburg-Bahn (BN), the Gürbetal-Bern-Schwarzenburg-Bahn (GBS), Regionalverkehr Mittelland (RM) and the Simmentalbahn (SEZ).
