About National Landscape Conservation System
The Natonal Landscape Conservation System is Americas newest conservation system. It was created in June 2000 by Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt and in March 2009, encacted by law as part of the Bureau of Land Management. It administer nationally significant conservation designations that include National Monuments, National Conservation Areas, Wilderness, Wild and Scenic Rivers, National Scenic and Historic Trails, Outstanding Natural Areas, a Forest Reserve and wildenress study areas. At this time, there are more than 880 designated conservation units that encompass 27 million acres of BLM lands in the National Landscape Conservation System. Photography from any of the lands administered by the National Landscape Conservation System is what this group is for. Please identify what the name of the conservation unit is in your caption or tags.
