Ansel Adams' Lost Los Angeles Found (All B&W)
|
I've stumbled across an obscure trove of about 189 photographs by Ansel Adams of the streets of Los Angeles, out-takes from an assignment he did for Fortune Magazine in 1941.
I've made a set of about 90 cleaned up images at:
Ansel Adams' Lost Los Angeles Found - a photoset on Flickr
along with an article at about locating and finding out there origin that is posted as an excerpt. The full article with Fortune Magazine links and images of the layouts is at:
Ansel Adams' Lost Los Angeles Found @ AMERICAN DIGEST
I think this is an interesting sidelight on the career of Ansel Adams and I hope some others will think so too.

Very cool. I had read that Adams did a lot of commercial work and his office was in San Francisco. One of the older hotels in SF found a box of prints from an assignment he did for them back in the day and although it's not considered "art", I found his commercial work to be inspiring, too.

What a find! You should submit this to BoingBoing. They frequently feature found treasures like this and the blog has a large following.
Thanks for putting this together.
