About Black Down, Sussex Photos of Black Down, Sussex Black Down is located within the South Downs National Park, to the south of Haslemere. It is the highest point in Sussex at 280m, and the second highest in the south east. The poet Lord Alfred Tennyson built his house, Aldworth, on the hill.
