Taken form the photo's description:
Arriving at Tilbury on board the ex-troopship SS Empire Windrush.
*******************
The Windrush Generation -- On 22 June 1948, the British troopship SS Empire Windrush discharged its passengers at Tilbury Docks in Kent. Among those on board were 492 Jamaican civilians who had joined the ship at Kingston. They were leaving behind an island devastated by a recent hurricane, where there were few jobs and which was suffering from a long-term agricultural depression. Their arrival marked the beginning of a major period of black immigration to Britain, which ended in 1962 with the passing of the Commonwealth Immigrants Act.
Great photo. The significance speaks for itself!
Thanks for adding and providing the info.

Great symbolic photo, well taken. For me, I see a Father and son *together* facing the 'establishment'. The boy has his head up, undaunted, like he's ready to take on the establishment. The father has his head down, more philosophical in his approach. Interesting.. Lovely shot.

Love the hair. The afro comb sets it off nicely. Great contrast with the 'fake' women on her wall. You go girl!

This shot captures the Black British experience superbly.
There's so much joy and optimism in their eyes. Captured wonderfully.
It would be interesting to meet these young women today (over 40 years later!).
