About Birr Castle Demesne
The Birr Castle Demesne in County Offaly, Ireland, is rich in history and beauty. Home to the Earls and Countesses of Rosse since the 1600s, it comprises 135 acres of parkland, gardens, farmland, and structures of great significance in the history of science and technology (such as the reconstructed "Leviathan of Parsonstown" giant telescope and the shed containing the world's first turbine electric generator.) It is also home to a multi-generational collection of trees from around the world.
