Just for the record it's about 27 miles which is eminently doable on a bike. You could walk that in seven hours, give or take (though your feet would hurt a bit).

I'd be up for it if I could manage to buy a bike. Anybody know any places I could pick up a medium quality used mountain bike on the cheap? I don't care it it is ugly or heavy but I do like reliable and solid components.

I spent a long time looking for a decent second hand bike a couple of years back and gave up, buying a new one from Halfords.

Hi Pete, I'd be up for this if I'm free at the right time.
Also, I've got a spare bike in the garage which could possibly be lent out. Fortunately I'm not that far from the 11 route to start with!

I meant to mention this here, but the idea has morphed into something bigger in my mind. I'm planning on writing a book about the Outer Circle over the year. It may not come to anything but the act of doing so should be an entertaining diversion if nothing else.

That said, when I do start making trips I may well post about them here beforehand should anyone want to come along.
