The graceful beauty of birds in flight is my inspiration. I currently have a project of photographing the hummingbirds of Costa Rica. It's an interesting project involving lots of equipment on bumpy roads, but, I think, well worth the effort. Tiny Costa Rica has 52 species of hummingbirds, several of them endemic. It's an adventure just to find them in their native habitat.

Hello everyone!

Marcos from Petropolis (Rio de Janeiro area), in Brazil.

I'm not only new to the group but also new to photography - yes, a newbie. And one of my passions has always been birds.

As these little guys are always moving and flying and jumping, I have already realized maybe I chose a rather difficult subject to start with. :o)

Right now I use a Canon EOS T3i with Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens and Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Telephoto Zoom Lens.

The images in this group are awesome and make me wonder when I will start making photographs with this level of quality.

G'day Guys

I live in Cairns, sunny North Queensland in Australia.

Love all sorts of photography and particularly enjoy wildlife and nature photography.

I use Nikon gear with a couple of quality Sigma lenses - D700/D300/D200/D70. Currently thinking seriously about buyig the Nikon 200-400VR lens with TC-1.4 Teleconverter to replace my venerable Sigma 120-300F/2.8.

There are some very high quality images here. I know I will learn a great deal. Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Hi guys

I'm Jason from Preston in the North of England. I'm relatively inexperienced at photography, but having got a new camera a few months back, I'm getting quite into it. Most of my pics so far are only from my garden or down on the local beach.

I'm very impressed by the pics i've seen so far in this group, and any feedback as to how to make my pics as good would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Jason

Pauline & Ian Wildlife Images Posted 14 years ago
Hi I'm Pauline from Lancashire UK and I'm very new here. I've been into photography for the last 40+ years (where did that go?!) I'm now a Canon user (started off with a Zenith E) but in the last three years have managed a lens big enough (500 prime) to make the kind of wildlife shots I've always hoped to achieve - particularly of birds - that I've wanted to since I was in my teens!!

Now that I'm retired I try to figure in going out as much as possible - a recent spell of unexpected illness has slowed me up a bit - my advice to everyone is enjoy your photography - go out and do it as much as you need or can manage to do along with all the other life things - don't put it off till your too old - practice all the time - hone your techniques - learn from others - and be ready when life gives you the opportunity to own better equipment for the branch of photography that appeals to you ...... Enjoy!

Well my name is Justin i live in the lehigh valley area in PA, I shoot with a nikon d90 and my main lens is a sigma 150-500mm. i have been into photography now for about 5 years. i started out in macro and moved toward the birds, photographing a bird that you have never seen before is such a pleasure, when i saw a picture of cedar waxwings and found out they are in my area part of the year i went out looking for them and after two years i finally found a group of them and they were just so much fun to watch plus i got decent photos not the best due to the overcast sky, but some nice ones. i think this group rocks

Hi everyone! My name is Matt and I'm 14 years old. I live in Hampshire in England and have recently taken an interest on bird photography. I got a Canon EOS 550D for Christmas, so I use that and absolutely love it. As a new bird fan, I am not the best at the identification of the birds I shoot (but I do try), but I am hoping this group will help me with that, though I do have a lot of help from my Mum's partner, who is an amateur bird watcher and photographer. Looking forward to contributing to the group and hopefully getting some advice in how to improve and hopefully share my thoughts on other photos to help other people if I can!

NYC Wild Posted 14 years ago
Hi guys,

Relatively new to photography and birds and birding photography, mind you . Happily living in Brooklyn, NY, I have some great birding opportunities right outside my doorstep, and it's amazing to see the amount of wildlife that lives or passes through this urban landscape.

I'm using a Canon EOS XSi, and just upgraded to a Sigma 120-400 OS to help, in part, get a closer look at some of our feathered friends.

Happy New Year!
David Hawkins Photography Posted 14 years ago

That's changed now with the purchase of my first telephoto. I gain experience with each outing and look forward with enthusiasm to contributing to the photographic record. David Hawkins.

Hi there.
My name is peter and I live in The Netherlands.
I`m a passionate amateur with a D90 body and Sigma lenses, covering 15 to 500 mm, because money does not grow on trees and Sigma quality never disappoints me personally.
Always remember that the photographer takes the picture, not the camera.
Most of my bird pictures so far are from zoo`s because I like doing portrait style with shallow DOF

Well, howdy and hello! I'm Vanee from Penang, Malaysia. Love taking shots..here and there... Currently, I use a digital camera with a 8.1 mgpix capability (panasonic lumix dmc-ls85)
I do try to go near the birds without scaring them away, because obviously out of range ones would lose in clarity when i use the zoom in function of the camera .
Hopefully, I will be blessed with a dslr one day, so that even a flying birdie wouldn't be missed out... Happy Snapping peeps ;)
