21 Oct 09 - It's a new Wish List! Some new species accounts are coming to All About Birds, and we'd love to have photos of these species:

Bar-tailed Godwit, Five-striped Sparrow, Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher, Thick-billed Kingbird, Tropical Parula, Black Swift, Mexican Chickadee, Olive Warbler, Red-whiskered Bulbul, Sooty Tern, White-tailed Tropicbird.

Can anyone help? Thank you for Birdsharing!

About Birdshare

This is a public group administered by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, located in Sapsucker Woods, Ithaca, New York.

This is a place for people to post, share, and discuss pictures of birds, whether you have ID questions, you're documenting plumages, you saw something rare, or just like how your bird photo turned out.

Please read the Group Rules before joining. We request that you grant us permission to use your photos on the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's website. In this way, we hope to turn the resources and generosity of the birding community toward helping us in our mission of conservation.

You can read more about this group and its reason for being at our blog. You may also be interested in other Lab-related flickr groups, including eBird's rarities group, NestWatch group, Great Backyard Bird Count photos, Neotropical birds, and photos from Sapsucker Woods. If you enjoy projects like NestWatch and the GBBC, check out the Lab's Citizen Science group on Facebook.

Finally, a quick plea to take a moment to tag your photos with at least the following tags:
common name, if you know it
scientific name, if you know it
the state (or province) where the photograph was taken
the date you took the photo (at least the month) This will be of great use to people interested in migration, molt, and other seasonal topics.

(Two caveats: If your camera stores the date and it comes through when you upload your photo - and if your camera's date is set correctly! - you don't need to add a separate tag. Likewise, if you geotag your photo you don't need to add a separate location tag.)

Other recommended tags that we'd love it if you added:

feeder for birds at feeders
young if chicks, juveniles, or young are in the picture
nest if a nest is pictured
urban if the bird is in a city or town
prey if the bird has captured or is eating any kind of animal
captive if the bird is at a zoo or aviary
hand if it's a photo of a bird in the hand
flock if the picture is of a group of birds

Other tag suggestions are welcome!
