09 Jan 10 - As an online field guide to the birds of Australia, this group welcomes clear, close-up images of birds showing the whole bird. To increase the usefulness of the images as a guide give the bird's common name in the title, and scientific name and location in the tags.

Please see also the Australian Birds group.

About Field Guide to the Birds of Aus

A Field Guide to the birds of Australia.

Photos should be a clear image of a single bird, (or a male/female, adult/juvenile pair) with the bird's accepted common name in the title.

Preferably:
- images have minimal post processing without frames or watermarks that obscure the bird.
- the scientific name is given in the tags.
- the location is given in the tags.

A description of the bird or a link to a description from Birds in Backyards or similar, and geotags would increase the Field Guide value of the image.
