About Best of Yosemite

Yosemite National Park was created on October 1st, of 1890. Yosemite Valley and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias were originally set aside as land for public use in 1864. It was the first time in history that a piece of land was set aside for public recreation. Yellowstone became the first official "National Park" in 1872 because it occupied a territory. Yosemite was placed in the control of the state of California at first, but then became the third National Park in 1890. What a precious gift it is. We are all blessed!!!
We should all give thanks and remember the very special people who were responsible for the creation, protection, and promotion of the park: Abraham Lincoln, Galen Clark, John Conness, James M. Hutchings, John Muir, Frederick Law Olmsted, Robert Underwood Johnson, Benjamin Harrison, Theodore Roosevelt, Stephen Mather, Ansel Adams, David Brower, Stewart Udall, just to name a few.
This is a moderated group for the showcase of the BEST photographs of Yosemite National Park. We are looking for images that you might find on the cover of a magazine, or on a postcard. It doesn't have to be a perfect composition or be in the right place at the right time. For example, the "rule of thirds" doesn't always work with all photographs. I'm looking for beautiful images of the park, even if sometimes they break the rules! Let's see your BEST work!!! I've seen many outstanding images of Yosemite on Flickr, so let's create a collection of the finest.
