When you post photos, please comment on other photos in the pool. Just saying that you like a photo is fine, but substantive and helpful comments would be even more appreciated. Just click the photo and then write a comment. Have a question about photography? Want to discuss one of your own photos? Want to organize a field trip? Want to sell used gear? Then, start a discussion. Just click the "Post a new topic" link below. To view or participate in a discussion, click its title below.

About Berkeley Camera Club

Welcome! The Berkeley Camera Club is an active group of photographers who meet weekly, go on field trips together, and participate in other common activities. For information about the club, check out our website: Berkeley Camera Club. To join the club, please come to one of our meetings and sign up. Meeting time, location, and membership information are on the website.

Joining our Flickr Group
This is an invitation-only Flickr group open to all members of the "real" (non-virtual) Berkeley Camera Club. Only members of the "real" club can join this Flickr group and add photos, but anyone on Flickr can view them. If you are a member of the "real" club and wish to join this Flickr group, just click the "Join This Group" link near the top of this page. If you are not yet a member of Yahoo and/or Flickr, you will be prompted to join. Then Flickr will display a page for sending a FlickrMail message to the group administrator. Include your name in the message as listed on the membership list on the BCC website. The administrator will then add you to this group.

If you are not yet a member of the "real" (non-virtual) club, please come to one of our meetings, sign up, and then join this Flickr group. Meeting time, location, and membership information are on the website at: Berkeley Camera Club.

Purpose of this Group
Think of this group as an ongoing "image night" where members can post images and receive feedback. As on image nights, you may want to say something about the image and the kind of feedback you'd like. You can do that in the description text box under the image in your Flickr photostream before you add the image to the group pool. Please tag the image "Berkeley Camera Club". When you comment on an image, just saying that you like it is fine, but substantive, thoughtful, and helpful comments would probably be even more appreciated. Please copy and paste the following HTML code at the end of your comment:

Discussions
This is also a good place for discussion. To participate in a discussion, just click on its title under the "Discussion" heading in the middle of this page and write a reply. To start a discussion, click on "Post a new topic" next to the "Discussion" heading. Feel free to start discussions on any relevant topic. You can use discussion topics to start themes like we have on image nights. To post an image to a discussion topic, click the down arrow for the Share drop-down list next to the icons directly above your image, copy the HTML code for a medium size version, and paste the code into your comment in the discussion topic. (This may sound a little complicated, but it's a snap after you've done it once.) Say something about the image if you wish, and give your image a title and/or number so that others can refer to it in their comments.

You can also discuss photos posted here by participating in our Google group and including URLs to your photos on Flickr in your comments on Google. Our Google group is at groups.google.com/group/berkeleycameraclubgg

Learning your Way Around Flickr
Like so many other things, Flickr can be a bit challenging at first, but it becomes second-nature after you use it for awhile. There's a Help link at the upper right of each page, and the page that it takes you to has three ways to look for information (selecting a category or clicking FAQs or Help Forum to the left). Still, the instructions can be confusing at times. If you have a question about Flickr, you can post it to our How to Use Flickr discussion (unless your question is how do I post to a discussion!!!)
