About Bengaloorey

Bangalore has many issues plaguing it. Uneven roads, repair works and never ending infrastructure projects that render it a mega construction site.
BMTC buses stop in the middle of the roads, causing traffic snarls.
Impatient drivers disregard traffic rules. Policemen take 'mamool' from roadside vendors.

Bangalore has its own charm as well. Meticulously planted avenue trees, taking turns to burst into colourful bloom. Wonderful, quiet corners in the midst of the hustle bustle of the city. Old eat outs, which despite the change in class of living, has faithful customers thronging it. A number of cultural events, marches and protests causing the whole of Bangalore to merge in unity.

What is happening now, is that the citizens are slowly becoming indifferent and disconnected to the 'Bangalore' around them. It does not pinch them when their neighbourhood rain tree is mowed down to make way for some roadwidening. It does not matter to them that the roads tarred today, chip away tomorrow. It does not bother them that nice boulevards are bulldozed with a promise of replacement (which is never asgood enough). And even if it does bother them, they know not what to do.

What this group invites you to do, is to contribute photographs. Everyday photographs of whatever impresses you, whatever upsets you. Over time, this archive of photos can be an effective tool in pressurizing the management of Bangalore to clean up their act, to demand good performance from them.

The archive of photos from a particular area can actually serve to guage the performance of an MLA/Corporator. Photographs documenting birds bees and butterflies in a particular area can be used to prove the richness of a place, and act as evidence in court cases filed by activists against tree cutting/road widening..

So here is an opportunity to create a Bangalore that is truly ours, a Bangalore that we can proudly call home. Start clicking!
