About Bench Life (no EMPTY benches please!)

Life on benches...as simple as that! But please NO EMPTY BENCHES! Also Life ON benches means exactly that...ON THE BENCH. Not around it, not beside it, not in front of it, not beneath it, not above it...BUT ON IT!

The humble bench provides one of the most fascinating environments for a study of the human condition and has a long and fine tradition in the history of photography.

It is one of life's great levellers. From lovers to drunks, vagrants to executives or pensioners to gangs the bench is a place all walks of life dwell upon. No one is too poor or too important for a bench.

A place to pass time, people watch, rest, sleep, cry, kiss, sunbathe...bench life is about life itself!

The bench is also one of the few places we sit and rest and can be watched by others. It's the ultimate shedding of privacy. Somewhere we sit and daydream; open up our thoughts and emotions; expose our troubles and pains, demonstrate our love and affections or simply the place we just lay down and sleep for the whole world to see. Babies have been born on them. People have died on them.

If you love life you'll love Bench Life!
