About BELLU Cemetery - World Heritage Site

This is a group about Romania's premier cemetery (Christian Romanian Orthodox faith) founded in Bucharest in 1858.
The Bellu Romanian Orthodox Cemetery in Bucharest is Romania's equivalent of Paris Pere Lachaise.
Its name derives from the donor of the original plot of land Baron Barbu Bellu, a cousin of the Parisian art collector and friend of the Impressionists Dr Georges de Bellio, whose paintings have been donated to the Marmottan Museum in Paris.
This cemetery has been in use since 1858 and has a wealth of extraordinary memorials and mausolea of great artistic and historic value, The Bellu Cemetery is declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
