About BE AWARE - IYTI BOSTON 2

Through bringing together artists of different mediums to a common subject and space, this event aims to return the organic qualities of the public space to the public, as well as call them to action. The common characteristic across all the pieces in the show will be their ability to alter public spaces, by whatever artistic means necessary. This will include installation, street-art, graffiti-art, and similar themed works on paper. Each piece will alter the space they reside in, bringing to the attention of the viewer not only the fact that a space can be reclaimed so drastically and forcefully, but also that they possess the ability to do so themselves.
The audience will be invited to take and keep for themselves, at no cost, a piece of work by an aspiring artist, included in the show for the sole purpose of being given away. There will be hundreds of pieces to choose from, and the interaction between viewer and environment in deciding which piece is fit for their character specifically will leave them with a sense of awe. To be aware of their ability to alter the world they live in, as opposed to accepting and ignoring static space, is the concept Be Aware aims to instill.
The show is currently scheduled for Mid April, and is going to be hosted in the Godine Gallery space of Massart, Boston. Final dates and diretions will be posted at a later date.
