How can you help?

Photos: This is a Flickr group, so we obviously need on-topic photos. Please add photos to this group that celebrate the beauty of the country and its people. Photos must be rated as “safe” or “moderate” and not contain full nudity or overt sexuality. Photos should be colorful and natural looking; monochromatic, computer-generated, and highly edited photos will be rejected. The photos need to be of people, places, and activities within the country, or possibly be otherwise clearly tied to the country and its culture.

Translate: This description, the group rules, and other information need translating from English into Japanese and the standard Flickr languages of Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Korean, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese.

Moderate: The group owner, Willscrlt, is from the U.S., and he would really appreciate the help of a few experienced Flickr group owners or moderators who are very familiar with Japan, Japanese culture, and the Japanese language. The work would entail reviewing incoming photos to ensure that they are on-topic and appropriate for the group, and also responding to group messages and mail written in Japanese.

Donate: The first group in this series was inspired by the devastation that the earthquake and tsunami brought to Japan in March 2011. Willscrlt wanted to do something to help, so he created a group that is a reminder of the beauty of Japan and celebrates can-do spirit of the Japanese people. Additionally, he wanted to make it easy for other people to donate to charities helping in Japan, New Zealand, Chile, Haiti, and countries devastated by recent and future natural disasters. Here are links to donation pages on several charity sites that seem to be doing a good job.

Meet the group leaders

* Willscrlt is the founder of this group and the other groups in the series. He lives in the United States, but he hosted a foreign exchange student from Japan for one summer. In addition, he loves the Japanese culture (especially the food!), and would love to visit the country in the future.
* BlazingTriangles helps with administrative tasks and co-administers several other groups, including many not related to this one.
