17 Mar 10 - Welcome! We have ~1500 photos!

We are looking forward to your beautiful pictures.

Please read the description (English or Espanol) below before adding.

In brief, each picture should focus on a single element of a larger whole. The element should occupy most of the frame and be sharp.

Thanks,

Mik + Steven

About Beauty in the World of Details

This group is dedicated to people who see the world as made up of smaller but important elements, gathering together people who have an eye for the beauty of the details. While the details may be parts of larger wholes, they are not fragments, but entities on their own. We look for the elements that enrich the whole. This view of the world focuses not on the tree in the forest, but the leaf on the tree. We find the beauty in the elements of an object.

Subject Matter
The subjects should be complete elements, not fragments. For example, a whole clock on the side of a building would be a detail of the building. Alternatively, a single numeral on the clock would be a detail of the clock. However, these are complete elements as opposed to a picture that includes just a fragment, such just half of the clock.

Composition
The subject should be the major element in the photograph. Nothing should compete with it. It should occupy the majority of the frame. In the above example of the clock as a detail of the building, the clock would occupy the vast majority of the frame, not a little dot overwhelmed by the building.

While we want to encourage participation, please stay within the spirit and image quality of the group. We do moderate the group, removing images that do not meet the criteria. We apologize in advance if anything is not clear. Feel free to contact Steven with any questions, comments, or concerns.
