About BEATLES INFLUENCES
Though the Beatles have influenced 1000s of artists their own influences were pretty consistent from the beginning.
Decca saw the group they auditioned as being a throwback to the 50s as the label was after straight ahead high school pop-not especially a Beatles influence even though they covered Bobby Vee and Tommy Roe songs.
The direct influences came from black music of the uptown soul variety as well as Chuck Berry and Fats Domino and country music as seen by Carl Perkins and the Sun Elvis
The Beatles actually recorded more covers than their own songs and very rarely did they cover any songs from the mid 60s
