About Bearded Dragons

This Group is all about the lovely, sweet and beautiful... Bearded Dragon. Here we share our lovely pictures and video's of our Bearded Dragons. Dont forget there are fun photo and video contests and challenges you can enter with your Bearded Dragon.

Bearded Dragons make great pets and Here is a fact sheet on them.

HOUSING:

When you first get your Bearded Dragon it might only be young and small, but they grow quickly and soon will need a 40-55 gallon. So i would recamend go and get the tank they need when fully grown.

In there tank/cage they need a rock, a branch, food bowl and a water bowl. Do not use elcetric rocks!!!. Do not put food and water in the area where it warmer because it will all dry up.

LIGHTING:

Also you need lights, a UVB light is a MUST and then you need a day light, they look like the lights you see on top of an aquaruim. Next you will need a night light, They come in the colours of Blue and red.

SUBSTRATE:

On the bottom of the cage you will need bedding also known as "Substrate". You can use, paper, news paper, paper towls, calcuim sand and wood chips (Large).

FEEDING: - Young dragons

When you first get your bearded dragon (if its a baby) you will feed it four crickets dusted with calcuim powder. Feed your Dragon a small amount of greens as a juvinile. The greens should include, mustard, turnip, collard and lettuce (Do not use iceburg lettuce) .

RECOMENDED FOR:

Bearded dragons are recomended for Anyone who wants something different and doesn't have much space. Or, those who live in home units or haven't got a backyard. Bearded dragons are long lived pets which, although requiring an initial costly setup, are easy to maintain and can make a great feature in the house. They don't smell or make a noise. The flighty nature of the eastern bearded dragon perhaps makes it unsuitable for children though the pygmy and centralian can make great pets for responsible kids. Only buy reptiles from reputable breeders or pet stores so you can be sure of what you are getting. It is recommended that prospective owners join a herpetological society for further information.
