15 Jun 11 - This group pool has now closed to new submissions. The BBC team behind Tree O'Clock and Breathing Places has disbanded as the project came to its end in December 2010.
Thank you all for your interest in Breathing Places and Tree O'Clock.
About BBC Tree O'Clock
On Saturday, 5th December 2009 thousands of people around the UK (and indeed the world) participated in a mass tree-planting for Tree o'Clock.
The world record for the largest number of trees planted in a single location in an hour was broken by all three teams that were competing to hold a new record, but only one team could be triumphant. Hats off to all the planters at Gransha Park in Derry, NI who are the new record holders. They planted 26,422 native trees in just one hour, beating the previous record by miles (it stood at 18,124).
The teams in St Albans, Herts and Hainault, Essex must also be congratulated for planting respectively 20,326 and 20,312 native trees in an hour! Full details can be found here: www.bbc.co.uk/breathingplaces/treeoclock/record/
People were also busy planting at home or at community events and we invite you to share here a photograph or two of what you got up to. (No more than six though, thanks.)
Well done everyone! Think of those future forests we can visit in 20 years' time!
