About Bay Nature

This group is run by Bay Nature Institute for folks who love nature in the San Francisco Bay Area -- whether you take photos or just want to look at them and talk about them.

Originally separate from Bay Nature, the group was started by Ken-ichi Ueda, who captured the subject matter of Bay Nature perfectly: Nature in the San Francisco Bay Area! The Bay Area is both teeming with amazing creatures and the habitats they live in, and under constant threat of development, invasive species, pollution, etc. Not only that, but the Bay Area is filled with people who use and appreciate nature in diverse and fascinating ways. So post your photos, share your experiences, start some discussions!

Bay Nature Institute publishes a quarterly full-color magazine and an extensive website with lots of resources to learn more about the habitats and species of our region. In addition to just sharing images and fostering discussion, we hope to use this group as a sounding board and point of contact for finding photos to publish in our print magazine. We'll also be putting a Flickr badge on baynature.org.
