FAQs
What exactly are you looking for?
We are looking for photos that document the rich baseball history of our borough among the Bronx's many ethnic groups, both historical material and contemporary photos of youth and sandlot leagues from the 1940s (or even earlier) until today. Examples are: past and present photos documenting La Caribe Baseball League in Crotona Park, or players past from high schools like Monroe, Stevenson or Truman, or photos documenting neighborhood little league teams today in the Bronx, but not limited to these. Think of grassroots baseball, such as local youth baseball, women’s and girl’s teams, softball teams, church teams, industrial and beer leagues, as well as school teams.
How do I find photographs like these?
Ask your family members, friends, and neighbors to tell you their baseball stories, and ask if they would be willing to lend their photographs to the Bronx Museum for this special exhibit.
What size are you looking for?
Photos can be in color or black and white, saved as a high quality jpeg, no smaller than than 1024 on the longest dimension.
I have a baseball collection. Can I submit materials other than photographs for this exhibition?
Please write a short paragraph summarizing what materials that you think may be of interest, and send to bronxitesinbaseball@gmail.com. Include your contact information.
How might my photographs be used?
Your photographs may be on display during the exhibition, reproduced for press materials about the exhibition Baseball in the Bronx, and/or included in an online archive associated with the exhibition. You must sign your permissions for these uses on your submission form. If you do not own the copyright to the photographs, you must obtain permission from the person who does. Note: if you took the photographs yourself, usually you own the copyright to the photos, unless they were made as work for hire for someone else.
I have another question about this open call. How do I contact you?
Please write bronxitesinbaseball@gmail.com.
