Winners of BSB Theme: Children

view profile

Hello Everyone,
The previous week’s theme was “Children” and we had an overwhelming response of 26 entries. At first it looked like a Herculean task of judging my top three choices. But after a lot of thought and repeated views it started to become easier to decide.
There were quite a few pictures which were outstanding. Among which I thought these were remarkable.

How ever top 3 according to me had to be chosen and I think the best picture according to me from this week’s theme was:
Top 1:

Photographer: Anita Bora

The great things about this picture is its tones, lighting and print quality to say the least. The composition is good too and the moment captured is very natural and has some action. Drops of water falling from the girl’s hand and the natural expression of the subject are really pleasant. The photograph’s exposure is perfect with no harsh portions on the frame. The Texture is good too. Nice framing except for the fact that the girl’s hand is out of frame which I thought was one small negative point about this. Otherwise, I really like this picture more than the others.

What do I say about this image? Outstanding! This photograph of a boy in a joyous mood is really so pleasing that the viewers invariably end up smiling. A very good composition and great mood in the subject’s expression adds greatness to this picture. The expression of the boy is very natural and good timing to have captured this. Nice selection of the background and location too. What I think could have probably improved this picture was the background which right now is a little overexposed. The leaves look very bright and are a little harsh. It surely looks like a challenging light which is already low on the subject’s face so a little underexposure could possibly make the leaves look better, but spoil the details on the face.
Nevertheless it was a joy to see this picture again and again.

Top 3 #1:
I would like to share this spot with two photographs:

Amazing natural backlight, natural expression and really natural subject. Outstanding distinction between the subject and the background makes this photograph special. How ever I think the photo could be cropped till her elbow not exposing the lower limbs.

The subject is so very attractive and expressive and this picture invites me again and again. Unique composition, expression and simple friendly colors of this picture make it outstanding. Though it is a family photograph it is really attractive and soothing.

---------

Congratulations to Anita Bora, Sudarshan, Nathan and Paren for their winning entries.
I would also congratulate everyone else who participated in this weeks contest. Each and every entry was special in its own way. Thanks again for participating and please post your pictures for this week’s theme “Shadows” (November 21 to November 27). Do not forget to mention the technical details of your photograph to help judging.

Anita Bora and Nishant will be the judges to this contest ending November 27th. Have a great week ahead everyone and happy clicking!

Congratulations to all the winners!

One problem here, I'm leaving the town on 26th, Saturday. I won't be back before 6th December. Since I don't think I'll be able to access net during this time, please relieve me from the duty of judging the next contest.

Congratulations to all winners! Excellent selection of pictures, Jayanth.

Sudarshan's picture appealed to me very much and I was kind of hoping that this picture will get the contest :) I believe that this post processing technique can fix the issue with underexposure on the kid's face.
