About L@TE: Friday Nights @ BAM/PFA
On Friday nights, BAM/PFA keeps its gallery doors open until 9 p.m. or later for L@TE—innovative, interdisciplinary events incorporating art, literature, film, dance, and music. Launched in November 2009 as an experiment to test the boundaries of what a museum could offer, BAM/PFA invites guest programmers with wide-ranging backgrounds to curate Friday evening events at the museum over the course of several months, often in conjunction with a museum exhibition. These guest programmers experiment with new forms of performing arts presentation and forge connections with local musicians, performers, and artists representing various genres and interest groups.
Through L@TE, BAM/PFA draws upon the rich cultural resources of the Bay Area and beyond. With each unique event, we advance our mission to be locally connected and globally relevant, and to inspire the imagination and ignite critical dialogue.
