Wow, I saw that list of pens in the intro to this group, and I think 90% of them I've never seen or tried out.

Which ballpoint do you like to use best?

the best one for me is Cross, but it is quite expensive.
I take then Parker - more accessible.
but right now, I have a whole box of black BIC, medium point, that are not bad at all.

Pilot Better Retractable Fine. Finest ballpoint I've found. Nice color black.

I always come back to Cross. The black fine point puts out just the right amount of ink for delicate shading. Its only "flaw" (if it is one) is that it's harder to rub than some of the other inks. I have been playing with some of the really fine point pens from Japan- Uni (not the markers, but true ballpoints), Platinum, Zebra, and Pentel. They make really fine points- 0.5 mm (Actually, Zebra now makes a 0.4mm!- again- a ballpoint and not a gel or marker). I like BICs, but on the surfaces upon which I work these days, the insides of FedEx envelopes (or pine planks), they tend to stop putting out ink, unless I really bear down. Of course that then negates the control needed.
Oh- Office Max's home brand of TUL pens have a very fine version, a 0.5mm that I have been playing with. They aren't imported so they cost far less than the Japanese pens.
