About Baked Urbex
Welcome to Baked Urbex. This is a group dedicated to Urbex photography and HDR. But not just any HDR shots of Urban settings, but shots that are heavily baked with tools like Photomatix, Photoshop, etc. The more crispy the shot, the better.
There are no awards to be given here, and you do not need to comment on anything here if you don't want to. It's all about sharing here.
Urban exploration (often shortened as urbex or UE) is the examination of the normally unseen or off-limits parts of urban areas or industrial facilities. Urban exploration is also commonly referred to as "creeping" or infiltration, although some people consider infiltration to be more closely associated with the exploration of active or inhabited sites. In the USA, it may also be referred to as "draining" (when exploring drains) "urban spelunking", and "urban caving", "vadding", "trolling", "building hacking", "reality hacking" or "roof and tunnel hacking".
The nature of this activity presents various risks, including both physical danger and the possibility of arrest and punishment. Many, but not all, of the activities associated with Urban Exploration could be considered trespassing or other violations of local or regional laws.
HDR is a set of techniques that allows a greater dynamic range of exposures (the range of values between light and dark areas) than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention of HDR is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.
The baking refers to using products like Photomatix to heavily tone-map the HDR images to the point where most of the realism is lost and the image almost looks like computer animation. Look in the pool for what I mean.
I am not a fan of HUGE invitation and comment blocks, so I am keeping it simple.

This is the photo that started it all for me. I saw this one photo and was hooked on Urbex / HDR work. Thank you Deeva!
