About Australian War Memorial: love and war

The “Australian War Memorial: love and war” group is for people to share their photos and stories of Australians in love and war: how do people meet, do they marry, how do they keep a relationship going in spite of separation?

We hope you will share your images about the Australian experience of love in times of war. This includes love, relationships, marriage, loneliness and the impact conflict can have on a relationship long after the war has ended. We’d love to see images, and read stories from early military involvements, such as the South African (Boer) war around 1900, right through to Australian men and women serving today.

Why are we doing this?

We are developing an exhibition (it will open in late 2009) about love and war which will use images and objects from our collection, and we are interested in hearing your stories too.

How to contribute

Please title and tag the images that you want to add to this group. If possible, please provide as much information as possible, including the names, date(s), place, and any other information that helps to tell the story. To keep multiple words as one tags, use quotation marks, such as “world war” rather than worldwar.
