About ~ AVIAN PHOTOGRAPHY CRITIQUES ~

Avian Photography Critiques is all about improving your avian photography skills and images; if you desire similar feedback on other types of photography, visit Feedback Loop

We envision the group to be small and close knit; in general, we hope the group will attract good photographers, interested in bird photography and interested in improving their artistic sense and technical skills in that area.

• Please join the group if the following applies to you:

--- you sincerely want feedback that is mainly constructive criticism (and not merely a few words of praise) and you are willing to give constructive criticism.
--- you will actively post on a regular basis, comment on photos whenever you post, and even comment when you see something of interest on days you are not posting.

Join the group if you are a:

- serious amateur, semi-pro or professional photographer wanting to display your work to an equally serious audience

- perfectionist or would-be photographer who finds birds beautiful and challenging

- artist who creates beauty involving bird images by stretching the envelope or "breaking the rules" outright

- birder who values beautiful and "clean" ID photos, behavior photos, habitat photos

- person who has "the eye" and photographs birds and like to improve your skills

- bird photographer with unusually fine post-processing skills who can guide others from "excellent" to "superb"

Encouraged are:

• active discussions on technical, artistic and other issues related to bird photography.

• posting of information on the species of the bird being posted on a frequent basis. “Common knowledge” about a frequently-seen bird where you live might be unknown to me because of where I live.

• keeping EXIF visible – especially if you’re using a DSLR – unless your post-production software strips it; this information often provides essential information for more thoroug comments.

• willingness to avoid posting captive birds regularly and to clearly identify as captive the occasional exception.
