About Authentic Urbanity
This is a group for images displaying the authenticity, grit, and beauty of urban places. The images can include anything part of your understanding of your urban place. Although this group is about authenticity it is not intended as a showcase for urban ruin porn and abandonment. Please refain from submitting those type of images.
This group is for photographers who have visited or live in urban spaces throughout the world. From Detroit City to New York, from Boston to Barcelona, Havana to Hong Kong, from...you get the point, this group is for all of us who appreciate the beauty of the City.
More limiting, the group's images should reflect portions of those urban spaces that are gritty and real. This does not necessarily mean rundown and abandoned. To the contrary, some of the great "real" urban spaces of the world are thriving, unique places. Little Italy in Toronto, Detroit's Eastern Market, New York's Coney Island, Rome's Trestevere, Sicily's Catania, Chicago's westside (in parts). All of these places share a feeling and a quality that can only be described as authentic urbanity. A feeling we are trying to capture through the images in this group.
