About Australian Water
Australia is the driest inhabited continent on earth.
As a culture modern Australians are facing a time when we have to come to terms with that fact.
We can not pretend we are a second or third europe, or even make basic northern hemisphere assumptions about water use.
So what are we doing ?
This group welcomes photos that record the lack and the sometimes apparent abundance of water in Australia, as well as the changes we are witnessing.
Australia has it's own unique flora and fauna highly adapted to scarcity of water. We also have highly skilled aboriginal cultures that have survived millennia in this environment. We are all under increasing pressure from water scarcity as global warming, pollution, population, politics, exploitation, waste and consumerism exact a toll.
Everything from salinity, to permaculture, drought to flood, lawns, cotton, rice and the snowy, landcare and billabongs, the effects, the evidence, the attitudes to water and the beauty. All welcome.
Please feel free to post pictures you think might demonstrate, celebrate and/or investigate the role of water in this wide brown land.
