About Australian Archaeology | Photographs
Australian Archaeology | Photographs is a flickr group focused on assembling image resources on Australian archaeology to promote the diversity, richness and value of archaeology and cultural heritage places in Australia.
We see the group as especially relevant to teachers, public archaeologists and others seeking resources for teaching and learning about Australian archaeology.
Anyone can join and contribute photographs to the group, however, only high-quality photographs with detailed captioning that are directly relevant to Australian archaeology will be accepted by the moderators.
To maximise the usefulness of contributed works, contributors should provide extended captions for all submitted works with as much detail as possible, which will include the time, place (can be general), subject/s and, where relevant, basic details about the project that the work relates to. Please browse existing postings in the group for examples.
In contributing photographs to Australian Archaeology | Photographs you agree that you are the photographer of the submitted work and have all appropriate subject and community permissions required to contribute the work to this group. In particular, if you decide to geotag an image so that it can be displayed on a map make sure that you think about the possible implications of making the exact location of a place known. In many instances it may be more appropriate to include the image and a general location description in the caption, rather than an exact location on a map.
We encourage members to use a Creative Commons license for all images contributed to the group so that people can use them effectively. We suggest an "Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 2.0 Generic" Creative Commons license which allows people to use your photographs, without modification, for noncommercial purposes without contacting you as long as you are always acknowledged as the photographer. You may, of course, wish to assign another form of license or no license at all.
