30 Apr 08 - Welcome to the group. Hopefully this will grow as more hike participants and volunteers become aware of it. These lands deserve to be celebrated. As a note, do not post photos of city parks here. This is for BCP/WQPL preserves only, or events sponsored by the Wildland Conservation Division.

See www.ci.austin.tx.us/water/wildland/default.htm for more info on the preserve's mission and management.

About Austin Wildlands

Devoted to photos of experiences and subjects on Austin's Balcones Canyonlands Preserves (BCP) and Water Quality Protection Lands (WQPL). BCP lands protect several endangered species, while WQPL preserves help protect the integrity of our water source, the Barton Springs unit of the Edwards Aquifer.

This group is not officially endorsed by the City of Austin's Water Utility / Wildlands Conservation Division, nor any of its staff. (Though they are welcome to participate!) Please do not contact them with concerns about this Flickr group. However, they would love to hear your questions and comments about the preserves themselves.

For more information on the preserves, their mission and management, please see the City's site at:
