DARK


Why does the raven sigh, the eerie chills from the lark .
I know of nothing more poetic than dark.
The uncanny echo at which dogs bark
That critter that scurries by, giving one a start
The image that forces your eyes to dart,
I know of nothing more poetic than dark.

The wind that howls through the trees at night
A branch scratching at your window with all its might
That shadow staring back at you… is it cause for flight?
And what about that thing that goes bump in the night?

That voice you only hear in part
The thing that caused a skip of heart
The ones that set your mind a spark
I know of nothing more poetic than dark.
