This group's existence is directly inspired by the Portland Grid Project. Participants are HIGHLY encouraged to visit that page and take a look around.

On the first of each month, the admin will select a square from an Atlanta grid map at random. Participating photographers will then use the upcoming month to explore and photograph the area contained within that piece of the grid. Photographers can then then upload their photos to the pool, provided they were taken in the month allotted for the grid area in which the photo was taken. Participation at any level is strongly encouraged.

The goal is to build a photographic database while exploring the nooks and crannies of the Atlanta metro area. Discover an area of town previously unknown to you, or just discover a new way of looking at it through another photographer's lens.

Please see the group rules for guidelines on posting deadlines for each grid chosen and the tags to use. This project began with the first random grid selection on January 1, 2008.

GROUP RULES
On the first of each month, an admin will randomly select a square from the grid map. Participants will have the rest of that month to take photographs within the grid.

Pool Submission Requirements
Photos submitted to the pool must have been taken within the chosen grid area's month. For example, grid section AG-57 was chosen on January 1, 2008, so any submissions to the pool for section AG-57 must have been taken in January 2008. There is no deadline for posting photos as long as they were taken within the month allotted for a particular grid square.

Photos must be tagged as follows for inclusion in the pool: ATLGP-[GRID#]-[MMYY], where ATLGP stands for "Atlanta Grid Project," [GRID#] is the grid the photograph was taken in, and [MMYY} is the month and year the photo was taken. In the example given above, the tag would be ATLGP-AG57-0108.
