What is a quality comment?
In this group comment is synonymous with critique.The term critique derives from the Greek term kritik meaning "discerning judgment".
It is more than just a few short sentences that say "good work" or "great capture". Terms like "Not my cup of tea" or "just doesn't do it for me" ARE OF NO USE and not acceptable. We want a bit of detail.
If you say you like something, explain why. If you don't, give specific, thoughtful reasons. This group only requires that you post one and then critique one. Spend some time thinking carefully about what you are writing. Your input should be no less than five sentences covering what and why you like or don't. Preferably more. It should also cover suggestions for improvement artistically and technically but not be too rigid about adhering to traditional composition guidelines.For example, ask your self first, is this image out of the rule of thirds for a reason or context, . Is a "distracting" item relevant to the main subject? Traditional rules should be learned and practiced but not allowed to interfere with creativity.

Why a quality comment?
Obviously we subject our work to peer review so that we can learn from others " fresh eyes", experience and knowledge. But giving a critique also helps us to hone our own observation skills. This is a very important part of what this group about. It is mutual learning experience. Keep this in mind when giving and receiving your comments.

How to give a quality comment.

When? As soon as is reasonably possible. Starting right away is best, but do take your time considering quality over immediacy. You won't be jumped on if your comments aren't up instantly after you post.
