About Third World Strays Project
Greetings and welcome to the Third World Strays Project's Flickr Photo Group! You may remember us as the Asian Stray Dog Project. The name has changed, but the idea is pretty much the same.
3WS is a non-profit group (currently under construction) dedicated to helping the hundreds of thousands of sick, starving, and homeless dogs, cats and other stray domestic animals of third world countries through photography. The plan is to collect photos of strays taken by travelers, and then the best shots will be made into postcards, calendars, t-shirts, and so on to be sold to the animal loving public. The proceeds will go to help organizations such as The Soi Dog Rescue, an organization based in Bangkok, Thailand which operates spaying and neutering clinics as well as feeding and medical programs for street dogs. Another admirable organization we hope to benefit is Amazon Cares, run by fellow Flickrite Molly.
By contributing your photos, you are showing your support for animals in need. If one of your pictures is nominated for further use, you will be notified and all necessary permissions will be obtained and full credit will be given. In selecting contributions, please remember that while we aim to draw attention to the plight of these dogs, graphic depictions of suffering should be kept to a minimum. More good will come of showing the spirit and dignity of the animals than the pain and suffering. With this in mind, please contribute your best shots, tell your friends, and enjoy the group!
