Regarding submissions - anything's OK, really, as long as it falls within the rules (and remember, it should be as realistic as possible if it's not a photo)

Poses, faces, clothes etc. - reference for the artist.

Tagging Rules
All submissions should be tagged with: what the image describes, what type of reference it is. You can have multiple tags for each of these categories, so a photo of a Renaissance Fair archer with a prominently displayed quiver could be tagged with "archer man quiver archery medieval pose".

Descriptions
Use the singular form: book, skirt, castle, horse, man
For activities, describe them as you would normally: bowling, archery, singing

Types of references (feel free to suggest more in the discussion thread)
pose, clothing, nature (scenery, trees etc.), pattern, architecture (buildings, monuments), item (miscellaneous objects), food

(Optional) Time period/region
e.g. 18th century, france (not "french")
