About Art Deco The Deliciously Detailed To The Sublime Streamline

A group dedicated to Art Deco.

Starting out in the 1920s Art deco often features elegant patterns in its detailing. Art Deco was influenced by the primitave arts such as Egyptain or Aztec, also popular was the use of more modern zig zag patterns, symmetrical shapes, recent inventions from transport and communication, and bright dazzling colours.

A new version of Art Deco started to appear during the 1930s that is now reffered to as Streamline Moderne, this style featured a more streamlined appearance featuring curves and horizontal lines.

Art deco and Streamline Moderne continued into the 1950's until more 'modern' styles took over, but can be seen as the influence in some more recent designs.
