About art critiques (non-photography)

In the spirit of flickr groups like 'judgment day' and 'score me,' which seek to provide and receive feedback for and from members,' this group exists to offer critique for images that are not originally photographs, but rather artwork such a paintings, drawings, prints, etc. which have been photographed.

The rules are based on those of the 'Judgment Day' group (for photos), though using a 20 point scoring system.

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER:

1) READ THE RULES POSTED BELOW...
2) CLICK ON "JOIN THIS GROUP?"
3) IN THE MESSAGE BOX PROVIDED PLEASE WRITE A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ARTWORK YOU CREATE, AND YOUR REASONS FOR WISHING TO JOIN THE GROUP.
4) SEND YOUR MESSAGE AND WAIT... THE ADMINS WILL GET BACK TO YOU ASAP!


QUICK RULES:

1. POST A PHOTO TO THE POOL
2. SCORE THE 5 IMAGES THAT WERE POSTED BEFORE YOUR PHOTO WITH COMMENTS
3. ONCE YOU'VE RECEIVED 5 SCORES, ADD THEM UP TO CALCULATE YOUR SCORE OUT OF 100, ADD A TAG, AND ADD IT TO THE APPROPRIATE THREAD


IN DEPTH RULES:

1. Post ONE image to the ART CRITIQUES Pool. PLEASE INCLUDE THE MEDIUM OF THE WORK (ie Watercolor, Pencil, Serigraph, etc). IF IT IS MIXED MEDIA, PLEASE LIST/DESCRIBE THE VARIOUS MEDIA AS ACCURATELY AS POSSIBLE. Written descriptions of the work and it's meaning are encouraged.
If more than one image is posted at a time, your images or others images will not be scored. ONCE FIVE (5) OR MORE IMAGES HAVE BEEN POSTED AFTER YOURS, YOU MAY POST ANOTHER IMAGE.
2. SCORE THE 5 IMAGES POSTED PRIOR TO YOUR IMAGE (The 5 images to the right of your image in the pool)....VERY IMPORTANT!!! Please comment on your reason for scoring. If you notice that an image needs another score, feel free to score that image.

How do I Score?

Here are some scoring guidelines...

1-6 = Horrible, Bad Composition, shows no knowledge of artistic devices like harmony, contrast for effect, balance, symmetry/asymmetry, etc
7-10 = amateur, bland
11-13 = Average, nothing more
14-15 = Okay, Could improve upon
16-17 = Very Nice, "Almost There!"
18-19 = Near-Perfect, Almost Added as a Favorite
20 = Stunning, Added as a favorite

PLEASE DON'T SCORE 20 UNLESS YOU ADDED THE IMAGE AS A FAVORITE


CALCULATING YOUR SCORE:
Once you have received 5 scores, add them up and recieve a score out of 100...
If you don't receive all 5 scores, add it to the Didn't Get 5 Scores? thread so that you can calculate your final score.

If you have received more than 5 scores, only use the first 5 scores for your total score!

DELETING SCORES IS NOT TOLERATED. If you delete your scores, your IMAGES may NOT be eligible for select threads (coming soon!) featuring art that scored highly.

This group is evolving and will be updated/ improved upon as we go...
