About Art-Redux
"Art imitates Life imitates Art". This group is a gallery of art, remixed. This is not an art portfolio, or a collection of copywork. In fact, it's better if you generally don't submit self-made work. This is the group where you must reinterpret works of art. As curator of this group, I reserve the right to review your submissions.
What we like:
1. Works of Fine Art reinterpreted by your camera, exposing serendipity, synchronicity, new meaning, psychology, wit, or wordplay. Emphasis on the Art. Double emphasis on the REDUX.
2. Images must contain elements or references to known, existing works of art from around the world. I can't emphasize this enough. This is not just another group promoting your portfolio, or a haphazard collection of things that look 'cool', 'surreal', 'artistic', or 'otherwise'.
3. Tributes to painting, sculpture, photography, or any other mixed medium are welcome. Not all art is found in a museum. But it helps.
4. Describe your work. Reference the inspiration or inspiring artist if known. Include the 'original work of art' side by side if applicable. Referencing your work will inform everyone, and decrease the chance of removal. Without any clues or documentation, browsing the group often turns into an art history guessing game. Or a wild goose chase.
What we want to avoid:
5. The rules have changed. We've gone draconian. Please do not submit more than 4 photos per month. This breaks down to 1 per week, forcing you to be selective. As always, there is no guarantee that everything submitted will remain in the collection.
6. Please do not include straight objective photographs documenting works of art unless there is a clear "Redux" going on. While I love to see 'Sculpture in Context', I don't always see the redux.
7. Please do not simply apply a Photoshop 'watercolor' filter to your photo and call it a 'work of art'. Focus on the art, not the Photoshop filter.
8. Group bombing. This attention grabbing technique is uncool. And meaningless. Rather than submiting your photo to 10 groups or more, why don't you say about your work instead! Tell us a story!
9. Sorry, but a photo of a beautiful woman reclining, undressing, or perhaps bathing must actually reference a work of art, and not simply pay homage to the beautiful woman in the photograph. Once again, taking a photo of anything that fails to reference a work of art risks removal from the group.
10. Art-Redux is not a group without limits. Looking for something a little more inclusive? Consider Art - no limits. But alas, even they have their limits...
