About Art Deco Los Angeles
Art deco buildings, designs, fixtures, prints or details from the 1920s on. This can also encompass some examples of Streamline Moderne. Images should be taken within the greater Los Angeles area, but need not originate there, e.g., the Queen Mary. Given the number of demolished old buildings in L.A., historical photos are welcome. Art deco ephemera are fine, too, such as old matchbook covers, newspaper ads, etc.
Please note that a building or object is not necessarily suitable for the group just because it dates to the art deco period (1925-1940) or the streamline moderne period (early 1930s to late 1950s). It must incorporate elements of those designs. For example, there are several Frank Lloyd Wright houses in the L.A. area, and Wright was active during the art deco and streamline moderne periods, however, his style is separate and it does not include deco or streamline motifs.
If you post an image, include in your caption where it was taken and, if known, the date of building or object. So that fans of art deco can find the images and even visit them, please tag your photos "Art Deco LA" and geotag them when possible.
