I'm curious now that we're getting more members -- what are everyone's ties to Arkansas? From here? Live here? Passed through on a road trip?
I'll start: I was born in Arkansas and have lived here ever since.

Grew up in Little Rock. Lived elsewhere for a long time. Recently moved back.
Driven through several times on the Greyhound and once in a moving van. Only able to stop briefly, but it's the kind of state that would be a blast to explore.

Born in Springfield Mo., spent my first 8 years in southern California, I only miss the ocean. Both of my parents were born and raised in Arkansas. We did the Beverly Hillbillies in reverse. ;-) I spent from the third grade in Fort Smith and the rest in Greenwood, AR. Graduated from the UofA Fayetteville in '82. Living in Texas for the last 18 years or so. Used to work right down the road from Scott at the International Paper plant on the Arkansas River in Russellville. Lived in Russellville for 4 years. Arkansas will always be home. I have travelled to several countries, mainly Mexico, Spain, Germany, France, Belgium, but I will take Northwest Arkansas over all of them any day. I plan to retire in the Fayetteville/Springdale area.
Live here in Arkansas. My wife and I operate a photography studio. Love the Arkansas outdoors.

Moved to Arkansas in 1996 to teach music theory/composition at Ouachita Baptist Univ. The college-town atmosphere of Arkadelphia is wonderful. (Henderson St. Univ. is here, too.)
My wife and I grew up in larger metropolitan areas--New Orleans for me, my wife lived in cities in California, Hawaii, and Kansas--and we love raising our daughter in Arkadelphia.

I grew up in Malvern, Arkansas, went to Henderson State in Arkadelphia and moved to Little Rock after I married my sister.
Arkansas is one of the closest destinations from where I live (Ft. Worth, Texas) with some truly beautiful roads and scenery. I've been several times, and keep coming back for the drive, the people, and the land.

Grew up in Cabot, attending University of Illinois.. Plans to return as there is a lot to be said about the good natured-ness of native Arkansans... Who knows why the north has decided to be rude to everybody.
Born and raised in southeast AR (Drew County), spent 6 years going to college and teaching at Fayetteville. Been in Houston, TX for the last 20 years... Lots of relatives still back there.

My father retired to a plot of land just between Cabot and Jacksonville when I was in the third grade. I went to Arkansas College at Batesville (now LYONS COLLEGE) then graduated from UALR. Dorked around Little Rock until I couldn't take it any longer and now I am having a nice long vacation in Vancouver, BC.

I'm a USAF 'import'. My family came here from Japan in 1972. I left in '79 and came back for good (for now!) in '92.
Since I don't have 'the accent', people like to ask me where I am from, and I reply, "Earth".

Born and raised in Oklahoma, then moved to Dallas, then moved to Fayetteville in 1996 and have lived there ever since.
lived in arkansas most of my life. i've been in buffalo, ny for the past 5 years or so where i met my husband. we just moved back here a few months ago and he's now attending the u of a in fayetteville for his graduate studies. i'm teaching art in alma, arkansas.
Born in OKC, lived in rural Oklahoma, upstate New York, then back in OKC all my first 7 years. At seven, I moved to Dyer, AR--a town so small, it's essentially a suburb of Alma, which itself has a population under 6,000. I lived there until college, then went to the U of A in Fayetteville and stuck around Fayetteville a few years after that.
In 1999, after nineteen years, I left Arkansas, eventually settling in Los Angeles. I get back when I can, and I always bring my camera.

Born on the Jersey Shore, moved out on my own to Philadelphia for a long time, took a news job in Cambodia where I met my better half, who's from OKC, back to Philly for Season 11, then moved to LR because my girlfriend got a job here. Voila.
I never tried to seriously take a photo till she all but forced me to take the class at the Arkansas Arts Center.

I was raised in tx..then lived in Lousiana for 6 years..had to evacuate for hurricane so came to arkansas..fell in love with it..so we moved here..been in Berryville.near Eureka Springs for almost 6 years now
I was born and reared in Louisiana, though I live in New York now. Over time, I have had a number of relatives live in Arkansas, so I have been to the state to visit quite a number of times. I have found Arkansas to be one of the most beautiful states in the nation.
I was born in Iowa; moved around because of military service, then moved to Arkansas (Heber Springs, then Conway) in 1978, mostly because the ex was born and raised there. Raised two sons (one born in Searcy), then moved to Australia in 1999. Both sons have moved away from there, too. It's a beautiful place.

My family and I moved from Pennsylvania to Arkansas in 1999. We live in northern Van Buren county in the north central part of the Natural State. My wife and I have five children, three of which are still home.
Born in Little Rock, moved to St. Louis, Mo., back here in first grade. We moved to Collegeville (1 mi from geographical center of the state) when I was in second grade. Now living inside the city limits of Bryant, where I went to school, my son and in the fall my grandson. Have seen lots of changes! Love Arkansas, but enjoy visiting other places.

I'm a Mississippi boy who married an Arkansas girl. She grew up in Little Rock and we moved here about two years ago in a search for a spot to plant ourselves and grow roots. Arkansas is certainly more photogenic than Mississippi, but it's a little harder to find sweet tea.

Born and raised in Pine Bluff. Went to school at ASU in Jonesboro for a year and a half from 1994-1995. Then, down to Searcy for another year and a half at Harding (still paying off that year and a half) and then up to Fayetteville which is where I was destined to be in the first place... Graduated there and moved to Dallas in 2000...

I was born an raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in 85. Lived a few years as a child in El Dorado, but eventually moved back to Pine Bluff for the remainder of my high school days.
In 2004 I left for college in Savannah, GA (art school) but during my christmas and summer months/holidays I spend my time enjoying Arkansas.
Overall I love Arkansas. While I may not care so much for my hometown, as a state, Arkansas is beautiful. If I could get hired with my career (Visual Effects) in Arkansas I would do it. Unfortunately I do not see myself able to live in Arkansas once my college days are up. There is simply no market for my career here. So off to California, New York, Chicago, or Europe it will be for me.
However, hopefully one day I can return to Arkansas and retire here. :D

mom retired to Mountain Home, AR when I was three years old. now I'm going to college in Springfield, MO but I can't wait to go back home when this whole ordeal is over. only two hours north and everyone's a damn yankee!
I lived in Arkansas from age 1 to 11 and most of my family still lives there. I was born in San Francisco and have also lived in Indiana, Iowa, North Carolina and currently in Georgia.
I was born in the tiny town of Ozark, Arkansas. Nobody would know where that is except that the lame T.V. Show called the "The Simple Life" was filmed there. The show was about Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie going to this small town to see how the 'simple people' live.
My Dad is the old man in the coveralls at the start of each show who is whistling at the girls as they go by. He did have a few on-camera interviews about the girls, but they were cut. My Dad tends to tell it as he sees it, and the interviews were not appropriate for television.
My Dad was born and raised in Alix (Norton Town) in Franklin county and lives in the same house that he and his borhters and sisters were born in. He grew up with no electricity and no running water. They also never owned a car. They took a horse and buggy to town once a week.
My whole family still lives in Northwest Arkansas. I go at least once a year for a visit.
It is a beautiful state.

My grandpa's side of the family is from Arkansas and many still live there. Many moved out here to Washington in the '40s but nearly all have gone back since. I've never even been able to visit personally but would really like to! I would really like to go back and see the land that grandpa grew up on. It's still in the family.

First visited Fayetteville in November of 199...8... yes, that's it.... spent a week visiting a woman-friend, crawling the Ozark hills. Went back to Florida, spent a month gather spare change and selling what I didn't need, drove back and planted roots on December 31st, 1998 - Happy New Beer!
There are days, yet, that I love it here, days when I no longer recognize it and can hardly wait to leave.

I just moved to Conway from North Yorkshire in England. My fiance is originally from Arkansas.
I was born in Fort Smith. Moved away and returned in 1983. My daughter is a sophomore at the U of A. I also play with a "newgrass" band out of Fayetteville and Little Rock even though I live in Dallas. My family is spread throughout NW Ark from Van Buren to Greers Ferry to Mountain Home. I worked in television at KHBS and KPOM in Fort Smith and Fayetteville, then in Texas. I'm still in the business producing outdoor programming throughout a 4 state region. I currently live in Dallas and go "home" every chance that there is to do so.
My parents are from NW AR, dad served in Heidelberg Germany where I was born. He then was stationed in San Pedro, CA. Moved to AR in 63. Stayed til I went into the service after graduating from Springdale High (wanted to leave AR badly). After my stint in the Army at CO and Berlin Germany, I realized I really wanted to return to the Ozarks, but went to Okmulgee, OK for an associates degree at OST. Moved back to Springdale and raised two boys. Went back to school for a Bachelors in Anthropology at UofA Fayetteville. Have been working in SW for the last 4 years, both NM and AZ, in the summers and back to NW Arkansas the rest of the year. In Arkansas I have lived in Harmon Community (west of Tontitown), Springdale, Fayetteville, West Fork, Sonora (east of Springdale). Most of my family is from Kingston, AR area and Marshall, AR area.

Born in Texas, move to Arkansas at age 3. South Central Arkansas is all I have ever know and I love it (one of the few that will say that). I always thought we lived in the armpit of the south, but in January the area I live in became the Promise Land thanks to Murphy Oil. For more infor on the El Dorado Promise go to eldoradopromise.com. Go Hogs Go, just thought I would throw that in......
My parents retired to Hot Springs Village in 2000. I come down several times a year to play golf with them.
Born & Raised moved to OKC in 04 WOOOOOPIGSOOOWEE!!!
Just finished a botany field trip through central-W Arkansas, arriving in Little Rock and driving to Russellville, then Mt. Magazine, then Rich Mtn, then the Ouachitas near Little Missouri River, then Glenwood, HotSprings, back to Russellville, back to LR. Beautiful state, lots of chicken farms. One big University, unlike most other states.
My overall impression is that Arkansas is a lot like South Carolina, only we have the beach!
(When I was in Little Rock on the way back, I think I saw thisisdrew with his sister...I mean wife.)

Live in Rogers until I tried going back to MIssouri for one year of college... didn't workout for me, so I came home. Now live in Elkins but work in Fayetteville. I don't think I'll ever move away because when we vacation elsewhere, we always compare it to the beauty of Arkansas ;-)

Born and raised in an industrial suburb east of San Diego, did a failed freshmen year in Arizona, and am now living with my wife in Fayetteville where I'm working on a masters in environmental geography. I'm very comfortable here, but I've got a nasty case of the wanderlust so we'll probably move again once I'm finished -- maybe to Nashville, maybe to Albuquerque, maybe to Oakland if we can afford it.
