About Arab Union of Photographers Europe
Ladies and gentlemen, The Arab Union of Photographers E.U. is pleased to invite all photographers to participate in the 8th Arab-European Photo Festival / 2. International Photo Conference. The Competition Criteria The criteria for this competition are based on the photographer’s role in presenting his work idea and his ability to be creative and attract attention for the submitted work. The submitted photos are expected to make a connection between their artistic creativity and the public interest in an innovative photographic art, aiming to increase the consciousness of the viewer. The Jury The jury consists of highly qualified members of the international photographic associations and institutes and professional experts. The assessment will take place between the 10th and 30th of July 2011. All participations and submitted photos will be treated with confidentiality. Online Jury A second jury will be online and consists of five jurors from different continents, who will simultaneously and independently assess all participations for their artistic and technical criteria as well as competence and innovation. Finally, an online conference between the jury and the board will be held to decide on the winners of each category. In each category, three prizes (gold, silver, and bronze) will be granted. Competition Categories The submissions should be within the following categories: 1. Nature and Environment: The beauty of nature and the role of the man in protecting it, as well as the impact of the natural disasters, climate change and environmental pollution. 2. Artistic Photos: the skill of the photographer in using advanced photography techniques. 3. Women: the role of women in the development of society, her activities in all fields of life. 4. Press Photos: the photos that attract the attention to topics of social and public interest. 5. Culture and Tourism: cultural heritage, traditional costumes, historic buildings and tourist resorts. 6. Architecture: the modern and traditional architecture and its special characteristics. 7. Sport: interesting aspects of competitive sport events, and the role of the athletes and the fans. 8. Portrait: that shows the photographer’s skills in the use of lighting, to create an arresting emanation. 9. Children: expresses the beauty and innocence of children as well as their suffering and deprivation. 10. Man & Work: to value the people’s effort made in the traditional production and modern work. Prizes Gold, silver and bronze prize in all categories. All participants will receive a certificate. All winners will receive a certificate. Conditions 1.The photos should of at a resolution of 300 dpi and will be printed on 30 x 45 cm. The photos should be sent by e-mail to: 8.festival [at] auop.de 1.Photo CDs are also accepted but cannot be sent back. 2.The deadline for submission is July 1, 2011. 3.The photos should not be older than one year. 4.The photos do not have participated in other competitions. 5.The photographer can participate in all categories with 3 photos each. 6.The photos will be submitted with a title and a brief description. Important Note The participation fee will be free this year. Participants are automatically registered in all the accompanying workshops and lectures. The organizer has the right to use the participating photos in all types of the media and on the Internet, but the copyright is held by the photographer.
