About submissions@aperture.nu
"It's not JPG. It's not 28mm either, come to think of it. Hell - It doesn't even fall somewhere in between. Aperture is, without a shadow of a doubt.. framework. I suppose. It begins here with neither a huge following nor contributions from prestigious members of the photographic community.
It's four legs of a table without a top.
A bad analogy.
A support mechanism, then. A community of similarly minded individuals who take a concept from a string of words, and make it their own. A hub of innovation, inspiration and ideas.
And here's how it works:
Every Sunday a theme will be published. It will remain open to submissions (via e-mail or our Flikr group) for the entire duration of that calendar month, before ultimately being compiled into a little Acrobat document of loveliness, alongside a slew of features, interviews, tutorials and the like - and made available to all on the first of the month. If that format isn't your bag, there's always the option of clicking through the issue on site. More work for me. Less bandwidth consumption for you.
Everyone's a winner.
Because the one word theme format that the vast majority of memes and magazines have adopted in the past has become quite tiresome, I'll be using the titles of movies, TV shows and songs, and pray my lily white ass doesn't end up in a courtroom for breach of copyright or some other legal kafuffle.
It's not always going to be so easy, though. Sure, some themes will only call for one image, but others may require photo essays. Or sets. Or.. creative boundaries.
Hell if I know. It's a notion in motion."
