I'm Susan the creator of the Animal Planet group. I have been on flickr since August 2005 after my husband got me hooked to this site which I originally started to just use flickr for my blog on different animals. My husband use to take all the pictures for me until one day I said give me the camera back in September 2005 and I have never given him his camera back since. I love going to the San Francisco Zoo and taking pictures of the animals each week and building a special bond with the animals. I also take pictures at the Happy Hollow Zoo in San Jose, CA and in Monterey, CA
One of my favorite shots I have taken recently is of Padang the Sumatran Tiger at the San Francisco Zoo because I have a special bond wtih this Tiger.

Hi! My name is Linda. I'm from Ohio and am hooked on photographing wildlife, zoolife, and my dog's life. I first joined Flickr in March of 2006 to find photographs of Tai Shan, the baby panda at the National Zoo. The magic of Flickr didn't take long to kick in, I starting uploading my own photos, joined more groups, bought a better camera, and the rest has been a joy. Animal Planet and its wonderful photographers has inspired me to be better, and keeps me motivated. There are so many of you incredible shutterbugs out here! Always looking forward to seeing your photos.
This is my favorite one to date, and it's one of my favorite subjects -- I especially love the big cats, and these two african lions are very special to me:

Hi all,
I'm Brian. I live in Los Angeles with my wife and daughter. I got a Canon 10D after my daughter was born and was soon getting back to my passion of capturing the animals at the LA zoo. Not having to worry about the number of film rolls in the bag, or the cost of developing was great:) I now use a 20D and 30D mostly with the EF 100mm macro and Sigma 50-500mm "Bigma". The rest of the gear is in my profile. I tend to focus on the big cats, but love shooting all the animals. In addition to the LA zoo, we're members of the San Diego Zoo/Wild Animal Park, and will join the Aquarium of the Pacific this summer. I also make sure to visit a zoo or two when we travel.

Hello Everyone,
I'm tabitha, I am new to flickr and still exploring my way around the site, the different groups to join and whole lot of other options. This is one of my all time favorite pictures. I laugh everytime I look at it. I love monkeys and the mannerism and behavior of these animals are quite similar to humans at times. Any and all feedback is welcomed.

My passions are bio-diversity and nature conservation and sharing my knowledge with people travelling with me. And then yes, I love shooting animals through the lens of my camera.
I would love to hear your critique and comments.
As I'm not all that clued up with uploading here, I can only ask you to go to my Flickr page and look at my pics - sorry!

Well, I guess I'm the new guy on the block. I'm fairly new to flickr, also. I'm Mark and have admired this group but never posted to it, because I didn't think my work was as good as all the others I had seen. Most of my photos are on 35mm film and just now scanning them into flickr.com. I've recently bought a digital; but must admit the manual is driving me nuts! I need lessons.....maybe some Private lessons....just kidding with all of you out there.
The following is one of my all time faves of my collection:

Cheetah - South Africa

Hello all, I'm Norman. I take my camera with me when I go out walking, so you'll see lots of domestic animals in my stuff - farm animals and the like. Plus sometimes i'm lucky enough to get close enough for a decent shot of something wild!

Hello there,
I just joined this group and am relatively new to flickr. I am having a great time uploading photos and meeting people that enjoy photography as much as I do. I try to take my camera with me everywhere but I never leave home without it when I go to the zoo or hiking. I have a Nikon D70 with four different lenses and my equipment is my pride and joy.
This group looks really great and all the people seem really nice. I am attaching one of my favorite pics of a baby swamp monkey and his mother. His mother is missing her left arm but that in no way impedes her ability to take care of her young (in a zoo setting of course). This little guy felt the need to climb around and decide to look over at me and stick out his tongue. Priceless!

Hi, I'am Saskia I live in Holland and I joined Flickr for about three months ago. I love to share my photo's but mostly I love to learn how to improve my photography (and my english). I started out with horses alsmost 10 years ago because I helped one of my friends that is a showjumper and dressage rider. I took lots of pictures but not yet digital. I bought myself a Nikon D70 a year ago and that is nearly always with me. Animals and movement are my favorites but I also love to take pictures of any event me and my friends are involved in. Hope you all enjoy and I think so far this is my best shot in digital.

In 1998 I got back into it and started photographing my first love, animals. One day a squirrel jumped up on a table and looked over my camera .. it gave me an idea and soon I was taking pictures of squirrels with cameras.. I have a web site called photographingsquirrels.com that has helped me show off my pictures ..
I have been in the papers, TV and even in several photography magazines with the squirrels..

the 5 keys to good photography of wildlife and other subject matter.
1. Morning or late afternoon light is preferable
2. Unclulttered backgrounds
3. The wow factor, is there something different that makes the image standout!
4. If photographing wildlife, study them and understand what they may do next. eg. some birds prefer to fly into the wind as they take off.
5. Approach wildlife slowly, a few steps at a time and watch them to see if they start to focus on you as they get closer, if so stop and let them get comfortable.

Hi,
I am LM. I live in Florida’s Space Coast. I use several cameras. My newest one is Nikon D200. I enjoy using it and taking out door shots. I like sharing my pictures with others. Being close to the beach presents me with endless opportunities to photograph animals and nature.

Hi, I'm Martin from the North West of England. Photography has been a hobby since I was a teenager, and wildlife/natural world photography one of my favourite subjects. I use a Canon S3 IS and digiscope with a Canon A75 and a 90mm spotting scope; together they offer a range between 0 cm and 30 miles!
